My greatest desire in life is to create. I have always been intrigued by art and design and the power of visuals to tell stories that connect people. My goal as a design student has been to understand people and their needs so I can create meaningful, inclusive designs that evoke emotion in others. Areas of design I enjoy include book and magazine design, branding, and illustration. My love for design comes from the fact that my skills can make a difference in the world. Bringing someone’s vision to life through design is a rewarding experience that fulfills my passion for creating things and my desire to help others.
Book Design - Edgar Allan Poe Short Stories
The goal of this project was to redesign a book. This book consists of six short stories written by Edgar Allan Poe. The bright red cover design and the black and white illustrations convey the macabre subject matter of Poe’s stories in a modern style. The illustrations and textures at the beginning of each chapter represent a specific symbol, theme, or emotion of that particular short story.
Product Branding - Mind & Mist, Organic Soap
The objective of this project was to research an existing brand category and target audience, and create a new brand within the same category. The chosen brand category is an organic, handmade soap directed at Gen Z and Millennial women. The overall brand conveys a sense of “mindfulness”, encouraging the user to calm their mind, nourish their skin, and connect with nature by using a soap made from natural and sustainable ingredients.
Product Packaging - Chillade Lemonade
The main objective of this project was to design a unique logo and packaging system for a product. The goal was to create a main logo for the brand, and three product names. Chillade Lemonade embodies the relaxing and vibrant feeling of summer by providing its users with a refreshing lemonade in various fruity flavours. Research on existing lemonade brands was completed in order to develop an interesting brand that would stand out against the competition.
K-Days Rebrand and Event Poster
The goal of this project was to choose an existing event, and rebrand the event by creating a logo and event poster. This rebrand is for K-Days, an exhibition that comes to Edmonton, Alberta every summer. The new logo is bold and wavy, with fun illustrations of facial expressions, food, and rides on the poster depicting K-Days exciting brand personality and revealing the types of activities one can expect to engage in at the exhibition.
