The Yellow Wallpaper Book Cover
“The Yellow Wallpaper,” written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman in 1892, is a semi-autobiographical short story that follows a woman suffering postpartum depression who descends deeper into depression and psychosis. She begins to see women trapped in the wallpaper, so she tears off the wallpaper to set them free.
The women the main character sees trapped in the wallpaper are a metaphor for the main character herself, as the second last line of the book reads, “I’ve pulled off most of the paper, so you can’t put me back!”
CommuniTEA
CommuniTEA is a mock tea company created for DESN 318 Advertising Design I. CommuniTEA was imagined as a little way to put a smile on your face each morning.
A small community of 18 unique characters plays on the slang word “tea,” meaning “gossip,” as each member of the CommuniTEA has their own “tea” to spill.
An ad campaign for Instagram calls for consumers to join the “communiTEA” and share “the tea” with their favorite communiTEA citizen.
The tea box packaging creates the shape of a four-sided apartment building, where each communiTEA member is showcased in their own window.
Unlucky Hot Sauces
Unlucky Hot Sauces is a mock hot sauce brand that was created as a cheeky way to add spice and amusement to your meal.
Hot sauce is unique because it accompanies you at the table (just in case that “test” pour wasn’t enough).
Unlucky Hot Sauces label combines art and humor to create a visual you will enjoy staring at as you contemplate if you need to add more.
