Biodiversity Pathways
For my capstone project, I partnered with Biodiversity Pathways, and together we created a series of 1-minute explainer videos for each of their branches. These videos help inform the public about their mission and work.
Together, these videos enable outreach to a digital audience and raise awareness of Biodiversity Pathways' research, mission, and values. Sharing their passion with others and sharing the importance of their research is a vital step in increasing action and research.
The process for each video began with a script provided by the team at Biodiversity Pathways and a rough storyboard to ensure the entire piece was consistent and well thought out. This first step helps me understand what each scene leads into, so I can connect it to the next, creating a fluid video.
"Stage two of the process is where the good scene ideas are separated, and more detail is added. Each scribble from step 1 is translated into an illustrated scene with individual moving parts. Each asset needed for the animation process is developed.
This stage is followed by organizing the assets into usable files and importing and animating them into the script and music to create the final piece. Small ideas can continue to shift until the project is finished. "

Custom-made illustrations are developed throughout the project to create a stylized, but clear interpretation of the featured image. This series of videos featured stylized elements that reflected real-world animals and scenes, but were simplified to increase clarity and understanding.
I added additional "sticker" assets developed from images provided by Biodiversity Pathways. Many of these images feature their team and their work, showing the real aspects and impacts of the research Biodiversity Pathways conducts.
