He/Him
Hi! I’m immensely excited to be graduating and stepping into the larger world. My love of design as a lever for positive impact has spanned interior, industrial, architectural, graphic, and service bents. My time here has taught me to value empathetic research, rich exploration, and solution-oriented collaboration, and for now, I’m most interested in applying these skills to create engaging user experiences and interfaces in both digital and physical contexts. But before I head off to graduate studies in architecture, I look forward to rolling up my sleeves and tackling some real-world design problems!
Projects
ETS Travel Companion
Developed with fellow design student Dominic LaFrance, this service design project emerged from a collaboration with the Edmonton Transit Service. With the topic of transit safety in mind, our solution pairs a mobile app with a companion fob that allows users to be tracked by trusted contacts while riding transit to ensure they arrive at their destination safely. The project was featured in various Edmonton news sources including CBC News, Edmonton Journal, and Global News.
Hong Kong Tourism Trade Show Exhibit
Developed with fellow student and designer Cynthia Ma, this project turns the design of a typical exhibit booth on its head by inviting passerby into a mysterious, monolithic form that obscures the interior. A 20'x20' space is transformed into a chaotic and neon-lit Hong Kong alley where various branded elements encourage visitors to see the real city for themselves. Visitors can even sample drinks from a tea shop tucked away on the second floor.
Aplomb: A Panic Attack Companion & Guide
Aplomb is a smartwatch app designed to detect the onset of panic attacks and guide users through various strategies in real time to deescalate the related symptoms and regain a sense of control. Users may feel more confident knowing they have a source of comfort and relief right on their wrist whenever an episode occurs. This project was completed with fellow graduate and designer Braden Bierkos.
Welcome Gift Box & Collateral
Inspired by Iain Reid’s second novel, Foe, this project imagines the hypothetical welcome gift protagonist Junior receives when he arrives at the Installation, a large space station orbiting around the Earth. Packaging, print, and branding combine to create a slick and exclusive experience that artfully hides the deceptive nature of the station's operating company, OuterMore.
Get Your Tea On: A Tea Lover’s Search Aggregator
For those tea enthusiasts, this project blends information architecture, branding, and UX/UI design to create a charming search aggregator for tea. Features include search facets, prices and available units of teas, brewing instructions, third-party community-driven ratings, origin location, and suggestions of similar products. Users may save relevant search criteria, sort results by various rules, and favourite individual products or add them to user-generated collections. There's even a random tea selector for those feeling especially adventurous!
