He/Him
I’m a Filipino-Canadian designer and illustrator based in Edmonton, Alberta. I’ve always been passionate about illustration, and through design, I discovered more than just an outlet for my creativity. My time spent as a Design Student has taught me two things: A pretty picture doesn’t often equate to good design, and design is all about collaboration. As a designer and illustrator, I hope that my work can positively impact my communities and inspire a whole generation of young creatives after me.
Projects
Motion Graphics: Impulse Docuseries Opening
Impulse is a docu series that explores a variety of mental illnesses spanning from ADHD, depression, and etc... For this project 3 different opening sequences were created to depict ADHD, anxiety, and depression. This distinction is depicted at the end of each sequence with the sections of the brain being highlighted with varying degrees of color.
Illustration: Hold your Horses
This project required illustrating commonly known idioms. The literal holding of horses juxtaposes what typically comes to mind.
Branding: Carp Con
This project consisted of designing the visual identity for a convention in Brisbane Australia. Carp Con is a convention that aims to inform people about an invasive species that currently threatens the biodiversity of Australia’s many waterways. The illustration of the carp is hand drawn and applied throughout the brand subtly alluding to how these fish are everywhere.
Penumbra
A self-directed project exploring the role illustration and creativity play in relation to self-fulfillment. Fashioned into a manifesto, penumbra speaks broadly about the concepts of perceptions of reality and chaos in hopes of evoking further introspection within the reader. It is through successful reflection that one can come into being and ultimately discover fulfillment for ourselves.
