Hi, I'm Kerry! I’m from Edmonton, Alberta and I grew up speaking Cantonese, making English my second language. Speaking two languages also means that even my dog is bilingual! For me, inspiration comes from my reflection of personal growth. It’s like the journey of the ideation process in finding that one spark! My career goal is to positively impact people by creating designs that will make people hold a deeper personal connection. I love how branding and user experience design creates an emotional experience for people, showing how empathetic designers can be. Over the pandemic, I learned how to crochet clothes for my dog Bubble and her doggie friends!

Multimedia Art Symposium 2019

Multimedia Art Symposium 2019, held in Montreal, includes various artistic forms like art installations, music, film, and fine art. The symposium’s branding is an abstraction of Montreal’s clover-shaped logo and the reflection of multimedia arts through objects like a film strip, paint pans, audio levels, and a paintbrush. The clovers reveal heart shapes that express people’s passion and putting their hearts in their art form.

Ahlo

Ahlo is a beverage company that provides consumers with hydration and health benefits from aloe vera. Aloe vera juice drinks contain the succulent plant of aloe vera which includes the clear flesh pulps in the drink. The company name “Ahlo” plays on the idea of the “ah” sound which connects to the refreshing hydration concept that aloe vera provides.

Netflix Scheduled Download

By creating a new creative feature on Netflix, schedule download allows the user to be more efficient and on the go. Currently, Netflix has smart downloads that automatically download the next episode, or the user will have to download each episode manually. The schedule download feature allows the user more flexibility when episodes will be downloaded and how much watch time they desire.

Positive Note

Positive Note uses augmented reality to improve users’ socio-emotional well-being by spreading positivity. Positive Note allows people to send and receive positive notes as this ensures a community where people feel more connected and valued through positivity. Sending and receiving positivity helps improve mental health and stress as it allows users to cope better with stressful situations and think more optimistically.

Heartstrings Identity Rebrand

We worked with Heartstrings Jewelry to envision a potential brand for the future of the company. The total rebrand includes the redesign of their logo, website, and packaging. We identified issues with the company’s branding relating to clarity and cohesiveness regarding their eco-conscious mission and market. By strengthening the branding of Heartstrings Jewelry, consumers will better understand the brand’s products and eco-mission. With our final outcomes, the company’s mission statement is better recognized by finding a balance within three different niche markets of Heartstrings Jewelry.
