I am a quiet, daydreaming, closet gamer who loves to nerd out about my interests. I find inspiration in my passions which include music, video games, and movies. I want my work to reflect how design has influenced me during my life and to be able to inspire other people. Being able to use my imagination to create things that others can appreciate is why I love design. During the pandemic, I spent my days on a deserted island paying off my debts to a money-hungry, capitalist raccoon.
The Swing
I chose the masterpiece “The Swing” and illustrated it in the artists Jongmee Kim’s style. Jongmee’s style is very detailed where she would draw every line in the subject’s hair and featured many repeating patterns in the backgrounds or on clothing. Her style is also very flat with little to no shadows which is what I attempted to replicate in this piece.
Papillon Wine
I decided to challenge myself by creating a brand identity for a wine company. The word Papillon is French for butterfly, so I decided to design the brand and labels around that concept. I wanted to create something elegant, and delicate so I illustrated different butterflies sitting on different grapes depending on what the drink consisted of. Each flavour has a designated butterfly and colour in order to differentiate between white wine and red wine.
Sapporo Snow Festival Package
The Sapporo snow festival is a popular event in Japan where popular characters are made into large snow sculptures. I designed a festival package for the event which includes a foldable brochure and postcards. Information about what to do at each site is on the back of the brochure that doubles as a poster. The postcards feature cute characters and instructions on how the snow sculptures are made.
