Honouring Cultures in the Community: Educating and Celebrating the #UncoverOliver Campaign

We are working with Oliver Community League (OCL) in promoting and educating the public about the #UncoverOliver Campaign.

The goal of our capstone project was to further build momentum for their social campaign and engage the public in a digestible manner. From our research, we decided on a deliverable that could fit within the scope of the OCL and our timeline. This deliverable is an explainer video that could be released alongside important announcements relating to the campaign. The video and the social media content aim to reach not only the Oliver population but also the whole city and beyond.

The social media posts would highlight the progress OCL has made throughout their campaign and future announcements they have in their timeline.
Overview of our research in DESN410 in the Fall. We researched into finding what people think about community and culture. To do this, we engaged in several focus groups, as well as a cultural probes-like study that gave us greater insight into Oliver resident’s perception of their community.
Overview of the pre-production phase throughout DESN415. Began outlining a story with the storyboard outline, followed by the writing of the script, and finally, the execution. We collaborated with talented people throughout this time, including our voiceover artist, Hunter Cardinal, and our musician, Joselito II De Los Angeles.
Here’s the initial storyboard of the video. It gave us a foundation to build on as we continued developing and refining the story, script, and animation.
