Hi, my name is Rahima, and I am a Bengali-Canadian designer. My initial interest in design was due to its proximity to the arts, the focus on visuals, the breadth of mediums, and the multidisciplinary approach. I have explored photography, digital experience design, environmental design, and more throughout my educational journey.

Much of my work is informed by my cultural identity and a personal interest in anthropology. Since starting, I have gained a deeper appreciation for the conceptual aspects of design, the thinking and processes behind good visual communication, and continually self-reflect on my role in society as a designer.

Projects

An Ode to Bangladesh

Visualization of a journey through an illustrated narrative, paying homage to the country I was born in, Bangladesh. The storyline follows a semi-recent trip and my experience with navigating the unfamiliar environment as a person who grew up halfway across the world- in Canada.

Diwan

Exploration of a sleek and minimalistic brand identity that centres the contemporary cultural context of the Diwan pavilion by referencing the significant architectural features, and representing paradise and eternal gardens through color and relevant floral-inspired geometric motifs.

Style: South Asia

This piece is a combination of fashion photographs I have taken throughout DESN350, each a testimonial of my commitment to representing the beauty of South Asian culture.

Yes is More

An exhibit design project where I apply my illustration skills to represent the essence of each biome through the creation of abstract digital screens and marketing media.
