Rachel Jacques
she/her
Hello, I’m Rachel! My passion is communicating through the discipline of design to make complex ideas feel understandable, and to help people live their lives and tell their stories. My background in the culinary arts has made me into a designer that can think creatively in a pinch and have a keen attention to detail. My computer almost always has Adobe Illustrator open, as well as 50+ browser tabs with research. I’m excited to move on from this chapter at MacEwan to focus on growing my career and skills, and to help make the world just a little better designed.
Projects
Grow Home Native Seeds
This brand concept offers curated native seed kits tailored to Canadian regions, empowering consumers to plant with confidence that they are contributing positively to the environment. For the product, I designed custom packaging with hand drawn illustrations and directions, a brand identity, and advertising.
Boom Boom Ramen House
This re-brand for Boom Boom Ramen House uses a playful, illustrative style to breathe new life into the restaurant’s brand and help it appeal to young, trendy audiences, while honouring its Japanese roots— visually referencing the iconic rising sun of Japan’s flag, traditional paper lanterns, and of course, ramen.
Electric Lemon Energy
With a vintage-inspired aesthetic and a dash of cheeky humour, Electric Lemon is an energy drink brand designed to appeal to consumers of all demographics. The brand embodies a friendlier personality within the energy drink market, using nostalgic illustrated characters for each flavour and a striking style to stand out in the drink cooler.
Growing Inside
This project includes charming opening sequence animations for three episodes of an educational YouTube series concept on edible gardening within small indoor spaces—each graphic hand drawn in Adobe Illustrator, then animated in After Effects. This was my final project in Motion Graphics I, and I’ve learned even more about animation since then, but it is still one of my personal favourite projects from my time in the BDes program.
