Enhancing Classroom Engagement: Solutions to Boost Participation among Nursing Students at MacEwan University

In collaboration with a MacEwan nursing professor, this project focused on enhancing classroom engagement for nursing students. The new feature integrated into Meskanas allows students to anonymously create/complete quizzes and easily review/retake past quizzes at any time. It also provides teachers with a simple way to monitor student participation progress without the need for manual tracking.
An overview of major project phases, including research, ideation, solution development, and user testing. I studied the challenges nursing students at MacEwan University face in classroom collaboration and barriers to active participation. My research has identified some key factors hindering active class participation, such as anxiety, information retrieval problems, and lack of confidence and motivation.
Teachers have control over the number of student-created quizzes permitted each week/lecture/topic and can determine both minimum and maximum question limits.
Students create quizzes by adding questions, answers, hints, and explanations; they can do it all anonymously, whether creating or taking a quiz.
Students receive reward points for creating and completing quizzes. They are able to track participation progress and collect badges for each milestone.
