Hey! My name is Shakti Govender and I am a graduate of Macewan University. I am well rounded in Design with a focus on UX/UI design and Photography. I was born in South Africa, raised in Vancouver, and completed my post-secondary studies in Edmonton. Over the pandemic I started a polymer clay jewelry company called “Karima”. My passions include photography, swimming, and travelling from which I draw inspiration and try to incorporate into my work. I learn and observe from my past experiences and integrate those elements into my design to increase the interpersonal connection and authenticity.

Interactive Infographic: Biomimicry

An interactive infographic exploring the concept of Biomimicry. In this example, vocal learning observed in killer whales could be adapted and applied to human learning language abilities. The layout of the infographic was to maximize content and maintain discoverable elements for the user.

Game Design: Tongue Tastic

Mobile app game for exploring different taste solutions. Gameplay allows for learning through trial and error and the game provides different recipes that pair with the combos generated in game.

Book Jacket Redesign: Lord of the Flies

A modern rendition of the Lord of the Flies book cover jacket. Design combines a sleek look with elements of the story to portray a visually appealing and thematically relevant book jacket.

Editorial Photography

Photo series directed towards editorial photography for magazine covers. Overall I tried to mimic the delicateness of the butterfly through the model's movement and ultimately capture a fantasy like picture.
