Galay
I am a designer from Sherwood Park, AB. I enjoy The graphics and UX side of design with a touch of motion graphics. I love understanding how people use the internet and new technologies to learn how I can make them easier to use. A lot of my inspiration comes from interactions with my friends giving me ideas on what to create or design next. I have a particular love for making graphical work that is creepy or giving works a vaporwave twist. Over the pandemic, I created an augmented reality app that lets you try paintings on your wall before you buy it.
AR.T Augmented Reality App
This app was created by my team and I in Multi-disciplinary Digital Experience Design Studio. It is an augmented reality app that allows art buyers to preview art pieces in their home to size and scale before they buy it. Since the end of the class we have taken it a step further and are planning to publish it on the app store soon.
We locked down the style and layout of what we wanted from the app early after making the first iteration of the wireframe.
We experimented with different frames and 3D models which we plan to apply later, but for now we use a regular canvas to display the painting.
This is the look of the app. Currently we have multiple features still planned and in the works like displaying multiple frames at once and a camera function.
FireFly Renewable Energy
This was my capstone project I did with Erin Barnes. It was a full branding of a renewable energy company for a local startup. We worked tirelessly on researching and developing assets for them which included official brand, stationary, visual guidelines book, advertisements, and prototyped website.
There were a lot of topics covered in this site so I spent considerable time creating a mega menu to navigate and access any page straight from the menu.
We wanted to make web based ads that could be posted on any social media the company might have using the brand colors and logo. I created appropriate web ads for the company.
The home page includes posts and the mission statement instead of a feature image on the landing. We decided to make it the mega menu so the user could find what they need in the fastest amount of time
The “get a quote” is a hover state that can be accessed anywhere and asks for all the information needed for the company to send the customer a quote.
These were information pages for the site both long form and short form.
Page Turner & Bookmark Cans
This Project was for drawing for illustration. It was to find a craft beer and create a can for it using hand rendered sketches. I chose Situation Breweries Page Turner IPA and Bookmark Pale Ale.
These were my ideation sketches coming up with ideas and potential layouts for the can.
To assemble the can, I had to draw each element separately, scan them into my computer, and assemble each item piece by piece.
I chose these colors because I wanted it to look like old leather bound books or encyclopedias with gold etchings for the covers.
This was the final result with each can looking like a book.
Olsa Tools Redesign
This was a project I took on with someone I met through the school. The company wanted to revamp their existing site with something brighter and modern.
The home page in both desktop and mobile
We spent a lot of time perfecting the header and footer wanting to showcase their most popular and featured items where possible.
The product page and cart page had a lot of information and options that we organised then refined into what you see there.
The search page has the options to narrow down your search to find exactly what you are looking for. The login page integrated the different ways to log in without registering like google and facebook.
